Matt Edgar joined the new coaching staff in January of 2021 to coach the specialist group, consisting of kickers, punters and holders. He also assists the program is other areas as necessary. The fall 2021 season was Edgar's first full season on staff at Capital.Â
Edgar graduated from Lindsay Wilson College in 2017 with a degree in communications and a minor in journalism. While attending LWC, Edgar played four seasons on the football team, serving as the team's kicker and holder. During that time, current Capital head coach Brian Foos was Lindsay Wilson's offensive coordinator, overseeing Edgar's playing career. While on the team at LWC, Edgar helped the program win their first-ever conference championships and helped the team to three playoff appearances. Additionally, he was named a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree as well as a 2016 Daktronic NAIA Scholar Athlete.Â
Currently on staff with Capital, Edgar helped mentor Blake Middleton to the OAC Special Teams Player of the Week in the spring of 2021. Aside from his role at Capital, Edgar works as an IT consultant in the Columbus area.Â
