Ben Burns has spent much of his college coaching career in the City of Columbus after graduating from The Ohio State University in 2015. While finishing his degree at OSU, he served as an intern with the Ohio Dominican University football program as its offensive quality control coordinator.

Following the completion of his internship, Burns moved on to McKendree University to oversee the Bearcats' tight ends. In that 2016 season, McKendree placed second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference behind an overall 8-3 record.

In 2017, Burns was hired as the running backs coach and academic coordinator at Urbana University. That season began the turnaround of the Blue Knights program that saw just three wins in 2016 elevate to seven in 2019, a year in which the team finished ninth in Super Region I. He also took on recruiting coordinator and wide receiver coach duties during his three seasons with Urbana.

Burns then returned to Columbus when he assumed the role of wide receiver and running back coach at Ohio Dominican prior to Fall 2020.
Burns holds a Bachelor's of Science in physical education, which he completed in 2015.
