In 2017, the Crusaders went on to begin the season with the most wins coming out of its spring break trip since 2006. Capital went 7-1 in their stay at the 2017 RussMatt Invitational, eclipsing the previous best (6) set by the 2016 and 2012 teams. At the end of the season, outfielder Alexander Smith (second team) and starting pitcher Brendan Borkey (honorable mention) earned all-conference honors, while nine were named Academic All-OAC selections.

In his first season (2014) he helped Nate Campbell earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors following a season in which he batted .292 with four extra-base hits, seven RBIs and stole 10-of-15 bases. Taylor Branisel also earned honorable mention All-OAC honors after hitting .302 with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 18 RBIs, and having succeeded in 11-of-12 stolen base attempts.

While at Wooster, Ray posted a career batting average of .283, 63 RBIs, 21 doubles, nine home runs, three stolen bases, and one triple. In 2012, he was selected to the Third Team All-Mideast Region by D3baseball.com, as well as a First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference.

Ray, who graduated from Wooster in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, was a member of the Fighting Scots baseball team from 2010-2013. Over that span, he was a three-time North Coast Athletic Conference champion (2010-11, 2013), while earning first team All-NCAC honors in 2012.
