PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Capital University men's soccer team traveled to Carnegie Mellon University, where they fell to the nationally ranked Tartans, who are currently 20th in the nation, by a score of 3-0.
For the first 42 mins of play, the game was tightly contested until the Tartans ran off two goals in three minutes sanwiched around the halftime break. The first came in the 43rd minute and was scored by Miguel Larrainzar after a failed attempt to clear the box by the Comets. Justin Fung scored the second just 41 seconds after the halftime break off of a pass from Max Born, to go up 2-0 early in the second half.
The story was the same the rest of the way where no goals were scored until the 77th minute mark where Thomas Thornton scored on the right side off of an assist from Mateas Fitzwilliam who drove the ball down center field.
The Comets picked up four yellow cards in the game, compared to zero from the Tartans. The Tartans attempted 20 shots, compared to the Comets two, one by
Harper Gillen and the other from
Wassim Metatla but the Comets did have two saves from
Noah Thomas.
With the loss, the Comets fall to 4-3-1 and the Tartans improve to 7-1-2.

The Comets continue action on Saturday, October 3rd when they traveled to Berea, Ohio to take on the Yellow Jackets from Baldwin Wallace University for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
