Men's Soccer Opens Conference Play with a Draw at BW

BEREA, Ohio -- The Capital University Men's soccer team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University in their first OAC competition of the season, where they ended their contest in a draw with the Yellow Jackets with a final score of 2-2.

The draw brings Capital record to 4-3-2 overall and 0-0-1 in OAC play, and Baldwin Wallace now has a record of 6-2-3, and 0-0-1 in OAC play.

Baldwin Wallace took the lead at the 19 minute mark with a goal by Braden Lamb, and kept the lead for most of the half until the 43rd minute mark where Colten Musick scored the second goal of his career off of an assist by Phoenix Gewlas to give Capital a much needed goal before the half.

In the second half, Baldwin Wallace struck early with Nathan Gray scoring a goal to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 lead at the 50th minute mark before Capital would answer back 7 minutes later with a BW own goal created by great play from Dio Arve. Arve's initial shot rocketed off the woodwork before hitting the back of the BW goalie and bouncing into the goal, leveling the match at 2-2. Baldwin Wallace would shoot the ball four more times after Capital's goal to try and take the lead along with the Comets who would have three more attempts to also take the lead, with both teams unsuccessful in their attempts.

Musick led the comets with one goal and the other coming via the BW defense. Jack Thomas and Arve led the comets with two shots. Noah Thomas recorded three saves for the Comets.

Each team had two goals and one assist, while the Comets led in shots on goal and corners with six and three to the Yellow Jackets five and two, and the Yellow Jackets led in shots with 14 to the Comets 10. Each team also had one yellow card each and the Comets had 16 fouls compared to the Yellow Jackets seven.
