Baseball Drops Extra Inning Heartbreaker vs Muskingum

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Capital Comets baseball dropped a tightly contested 4-3 decision in 10 innings to Muskingum Fighting Muskies on Wednesday afternoon at Clowson Field.

Capital (15-17) battled back late to force extras, but Muskingum (17-17) plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th and held on to secure the win.

Muskingum struck first in the second inning, capitalizing on a Capital error to take a 1-0 lead. The Comets responded in the fifth inning when Michael Andryszczyk delivered a clutch two-out single that brought home both Gio Mastrorosa and Hutch Crociata, giving Capital a 2-1 advantage.

The Muskies answered in the sixth, stringing together three hits, including a two-RBI single, to reclaim a 3-2 lead. Capital refused to go away, as Robby Harrison launched a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning to even the score at 3-3.

After a scoreless eighth and ninth inning, Muskingum capitalized on another Capital miscue in the 10th, scoring the eventual game-winning run on a sacrifice fly. The Comets threatened in the bottom half, advancing the tying run into scoring position, but were unable to bring him home.

Offensively, Andryszczyk led the way for Capital with a 2-for-4 performance and two RBI, while Harrison added a home run and an RBI. Mastrorosa and Crociata each chipped in with a hit and a run scored.

On the mound, Noah Bromberg got the start and tossed five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) while scattering seven hits. Tyler Bebout provided two scoreless innings of relief, and Casey Wilkins was tagged with the loss despite striking out four over the final three innings.
