COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team rolled past Ursuline College on Wednesday evening, eventually winning by a final score of 17-3.
Capital improves to 2-3 overall, while the Arrows are now 1-2.
Capital steamed out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, with a first quarter hat trick by
Ava Vendetti leading the way. A goal just before the end of the quarter by
Mia Cruz made it 4-1.
In the second quarter, Capital added three more goals, thanks to one more each from Vendetti and Cruz and another by
Leah Leno. The three goals made the halftime score, 7-1 in favor of the Comets.
In the second half, Capital scored seven times in the third quarter to Ursuline's two to extend the lead well out of reach for the Arrows.
Sydney Norch scored four times for the Comets in the quarter, while Cruz, Vendetti and
Grace Wolfe each scored once.
In the fourth quarter, three woman-up goals by Leno, Vendetti and Cruz sealed the victory at 17-3 for Capital.
THE NUMBERS
Ava Vendetti scored six goals to go with six ground balls and six draw controls.
Sydney Norch had four goals and three assists to pair with her two ground balls.
Mia Cruz scored four times and had one assist to support her two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Leah Leno finished with two goals, one assist, one ground ball, one caused turnover and three draws.
Grace Wolfe scored once while having one caused turnover.
Heather Stoner dished out two assists, while
Eleanor Walsh had one as well.
Brooke Burchfield played the whole game in goal, making one save and recording one GB and one CT.
