ADA, Ohio – The Capital University men's lacrosse team traveled to Ohio Northern on Saturday afternoon where they would eventually fall by a final score of 11-4. With the loss, Capital slips to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the OAC, while ONU moves to 4-5 and 1-0 in the conference.
After ONU scored the game's opening goal,
Aiden Evans tied the game at 1-1 at the 10:46 mark of the first quarter off a feed from
Jess Lipp. Despite the level score, ONU scored the next three goals of the game to go up 4-1.
At the 8:08 mark of the second quarter, Lipp would find the back of the net himself, making it 4-2 on an unassisted goal.
Again, ONU would score the next two, but Lipp scored his second of the game at 11:21 left in the third to make the score 6-3.
After another Polar Bear tally, Lipp completed his hat trick on a man-up goal with 5:29 remaining in the third to cut it to 7-4. That goal came off a feed from Evans.
Unfortunately for Capital, Ohio Northern would lock up their defense over the final 20 minutes of play and score four more to defend their home field with a 11-4 win.
THE NUMBERS
Jess Lipp finished the game with three goals and one assist, while
Aiden Evans finished with one goal and one assist to account for the offense.
In the ground ball category,
Wyatt Stemler led the way with five pickups, followed by
Ian Zaletel,
Freddy Noday, and
Gino Nave with three each.
Nave finished with the only caused turnover of the game for Capital.
Freddy Noday and
Tyler Lieu were again solid at the faceoff with Noday going 6-for-9 and Lieu going 5-of-7.
Stemler was again solid in goal, making 15 saves in the game.
