Capital's second straight win moves them to 2-4 on the season. The loss drops Wabash to 2-5.
Both teams had trouble early dealing with the rainy weather conditions, with a total of 17 turnovers in the first quarter. Capital struck first with a goal from
Jess Lipp midway through the first quarter. About three minutes later, Lipp scored another one for the Comets, extending their lead to 2-0. Wabash wasn't able to score their first goal until late in the first quarter, making the score 2-1 heading into the second.
Fifty seconds into the second quarter, Wabash was able to tie the game after a miscommunication by the Capital defense. With about six minutes left in the quarter,
Aiden Evans was fouled hard near the crease, but that didn't stop him from firing one into the back of the net to give the Comets the lead back. Late in the second,
Jess Lipp had the ball behind the crease. Taking advantage of some confusion from the Wabash defense, he came around and ripped a backhanded shot for his third goal of the game. Only a minute later,
Colton Woods drilled the top right corner of the net, giving Capital a 5-2 lead going into halftime.
Charlie Howenstine wasted no time, cutting through the defense and getting a pass from
Aiden Evans that put him in great scoring position. He was able to capitalize and extend the Comets' lead to four. Wabash scored a few goals of its own in the quarter, but the Little Giants couldn't keep up with
Jess Lipp, who scored his fourth and fifth goals in the third quarter. Capital was able to maintain its lead with a score of 8-5 at the end of the third quarter.
Early in the fourth quarter,
Colton Woods found an open
Mason Miller in the middle of the Wabash defense, who quickly slid a shot past the Wabash goalie to extend Capital's lead to four. After a long silence,
