WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Capital University men's basketball was edged 85-74 by Otterbein in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday evening at the Rike Center. The Comets moved to 6-9 overall and 1-5 in league play, while the Cardinals improved to 12-2 on the season and 4-1 in the OAC.
The Comets came out strong offensively, shooting 46.7 percent from three-point range in the first half and staying within striking distance throughout the opening 20 minutes. Capital trailed by just three, 39-36, at halftime after knocking down seven three-pointers in the opening half.
Otterbein extended its advantage early in the second half and built a double-digit lead midway through the period. Capital continued to battle, trimming the deficit to single digits on multiple occasions, but the Cardinals responded each time and held the Comets off down the stretch.
Dallas Tucker led Capital with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while McKane Finkenbine added 16 points on four made three-pointers. Se'Ron Calloway-White finished with 13 points and five rebounds, and Julian Mitchell and Chris Mitchell each scored 12 points, with Chris Mitchell also pulling down nine rebounds.
Capital shot 38.8 percent from the field and connected on 11 three-pointers, while also outscoring Otterbein in fast-break points, 13-11.
