ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (8-4, 4-1 OAC) traveled to face off with Ohio Northern (10-5, 3-2 OAC) on Saturday. The Comets would power past the Polar Bears with 15 goals in the first half en route to a 21-7 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
CU started the game off strong, scoring nine in just the first quarter as they took a 9-3 lead.
Grace Osborn would score six of those nine, with
Andi Henry having two, and
Ava Vendetti netting the other. The good times continued in the second quarter as Cap put up six more goals to take a 15-4 advantage into the half. This time it was Osborn and Vendetti with two each as Henry and
Amber Street split the remainder.
The Purple and White would come out with three more goals to start the second half, shutting out ONU completely in the third quarter to increase their lead to 18-4. Osborn,
Brenna Todd, and
Dylan Smith made up the three scorers in the third. Finally, each side would score three in the fourth quarter to bring the final scoreline to 21-7. Capital's goals were put in by
Leah Leno, Street, and Osborn.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn put up 12 points on 10 goals and two assists, also reeling in 17 draw controls – the second-most in program history after her 20 DCs earlier this season – as well as accounting for five ground balls and three caused turnovers. She also tied her single-game program record for free position goals at five.
Ava Vendetti tallied seven points with three goals and a game-high four assists, while also securing five draw controls.
Andi Henry had six points off of three goals and three assists, with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Amber Street scored twice for two points.
Dylan Smith also had two points, one on a goal and one on an assist.
Lean Leno and
Brenna Todd each had a goal and two ground balls. Todd added a caused turnover as well.
Defensively, CU was led by
Heather Stoner (1 CT, 1 GB),
Avery Hart (1 CT, 1 GB),
Holly Stoner (2 GB),
Eleanor Walsh (1 GB), and
Grace Wolfe (1 GB).
Emily Serafinchon (6-3) made three saves in the winning decision, with two ground balls and a caused turnover as well.

The Comets return to action on Friday as they play host to OAC-rival Mount Union in their last matchup before the Easter break. First draw from Bernlohr Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
