WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team's three-game win streak came to an end on Saturday as they lost the Battle for the Oar to Otterbein, 7-0.
DOUBLES
The Comets were at a disadvantage off the bat having to surrender the third doubles match due to injury. The Purple and White would then get one win in the two remaining matches with
Annika Hansen and
Kylee Fliter taking second doubles 6-3.
Nicole Flock and
Anna Fletcher would fall 0-6 in first doubles, giving Otterbein the lone point for doubles, 2-1.
SINGLES
Similarly to doubles, CU was forced to surrender sixth singles due to injuries, giving Otterbein another point. The Purple and White would then suffer losses in the five remaining matches, leading to a 7-0 win for the Cardinals.
Jenny Rollins came the closest to a victory, forcing a tiebreak in her fifth singles match but coming up short, 3-6, 6-2, 8-10. Hansen also came close to turning it around for the Comets but would end up on the wrong side of a 3-6, 2-6 scoreline in third singles. Flock and Fliter both fell by scores of 0-6, 1-6 in second and fourth singles, with Fletcher suffering a shutout in first singles, 0-6, 0-6.
