Osborn and Women’s Lax have Record-Breaking Rout against Marietta

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (6-3, 2-0 OAC) matched up with Marietta (4-7, 0-2 OAC) on Wednesday night, ending in a rout as the Comets powered past the Pioneers 24-7. The Purple and White would see four single-game records on the night as CU scored four woman-down goals, and Grace Osborn set new marks with 20 draw controls and three woman-down goals, and matched the mark of five free position goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Marietta would draw first blood, but Cap would get a comfortable lead in the first quarter with six straight in response followed by another run of five straight en route to an 11-3 period. Grace Osborn would score seven in the first quarter with Andi Henry adding three and Heather Stoner slotting away the other.

Despite being at a disadvantage due to penalties, the Comets went on to score two woman-down goals to start off a 7-0 second quarter. Osborn was responsible for both woman-down goals as well as two others, with Stoner, Leah Leno, and Brenna Todd tallying the other three. Therefore, as things stood at the halfway point, the Purple and White looked to have the game well in hand up 15, 18-3.

CU started to slow things down in the second half, scoring just four in the third quarter and two in the fourth. On the other side, the Pioneers would put up one in the third and three in the fourth to bring the final score to 24-7. Amber Street scored twice in the third quarter, joined by one from Leno and one from Dylan Smith. Henry and Avery Hart took responsibility for the two in the fourth.
