Women’s Lacrosse Outmatched at JCU

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (6-4, 2-1 OAC) traveled to play tough conference opponent John Carroll (10-0, 2-0) on Saturday afternoon, with the Comets' six-game win streak over the Blue Streaks ending, 13-21.

JCU jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first quarter and would gradually extend it each quarter thereafter, outscoring Cap 5-4 in the second, 7-4 in the third, and 3-2 in the fourth to bring the final scoreline to 21-13. Ava Vendetti netted two of the three in the first for the Purple and White with the other coming from Grace Osborn. Vendetti and Osborn would then split the four goals in the second quarter evenly, two apiece. Leah Leno got in on the action in the third quarter with two more going to Osborn and the last going to Vendetti. Finally, Vendetti and Osborn would each grab one more in the fourth.

THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn and Ava Vendetti both finished tied for the team high with six goals. Osborn added two assists to total eight points alongside nine draw controls, four ground balls, and one caused turnover. Vendetti also tacked on two draw controls and three ground balls.
Leah Leno got one goal and one ground ball. 

Andi Henry had three assists with one draw control and two ground balls.

Brenna Todd tallied two assists and one draw control.

Dylan Smith dished out one assist.

Defensively, the Comets were led by Grace Wolfe (1 CT, 1 GB), Eleanor Walsh (1 CT, 1 GB), Ele Shalawylo (1 CT), Heather Stoner (1 GB), and Avery Hart (1 GB).

Emily Serafinchon (5-3) made 15 saves in the losing decision, also picking up two ground balls. 

UP NEXT
The Comets have the night off on Wednesday, returning to action next Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium to host Baldwin Wallace in a 1:00 p.m. meeting.
