Women’s Lax Takes Fourth-Straight Battle for the Oar, 10th-Straight Win Over Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (5-3, 1-0 OAC) made the short trip north for the 2025 edition of the Battle for the Oar against Otterbein (1-7, 0-1 OAC) on Saturday, winning in dominant fashion, 19-6. With nine points on the day, Grace Osborn became the all-time points-leader across all three NCAA divisions, surpassing the Division II record after having broken the Division III record earlier this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets got off to a strong start, putting together five-goal and six-goal runs as part of a 11-1 first quarter that earned them an early running clock. Grace Osborn put in four in the period, with Andi Henry and Amber Street both netting hat tricks and Dylan Smith scoring the other. Otterbein would get one back with a 2-1 second quarter, making it 12-3 at the half. The lone goal of the quarter for Cap was put in by Osborn.

The second half was smooth sailing for CU, outsourcing the Cardinals 4-1 in the third quarter and 3-2 in the fourth en route to a 19-6 win. Street, Smith, Henry, and Leno Leno were responsible for the scores in the third with one from Osborn and two more from Smith in the fourth.

THE NUMBERS
Andi Henry put up a game-high 11 points off of four goals and a career-high-tying seven assists. She also collected four draw controls.

Grace Osborn scored six goals and dished out three assists for nine points, surpassing the Division II record and becoming the all-time points-leader across all three divisions. She tied her career high of seven ground balls, additionally having 13 draw controls and three caused turnovers. 

Dylan Smith tied her career highs of four goals and five points, adding an assist as well.

Amber Street's four goals and four points were both career highs. She also had a ground ball.

Heather Stoner recorded one assist and two ground balls.

Leah Leno got an assist and a ground ball.

Avery Hart (2 CT, 4 GB), Holly Stoner (2 CT, 1 GB), Brenna Todd (1 CT), and Eleanor Walsh (1 CT) led things on the defensive end.

Faith Hutchison made her first career appearance for the Comets.
