KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Capital University women's lacrosse team got back on track this weekend, securing a dominating 25-11 win at Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon. The Comets finished just one goal off of the program single-game record of 26, set last year vs. Centre.
Capital now improves to 3-1 overall, while KZoo drops to 0-4 on the year.
The Comets put their influence on the game in just the first 3:07 of the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead thanks to single goals from
Ava Vendetti,
Grace Osborn,
Brenna Todd and
Andi Henry. Those goals set the Comets well on their way as they carried a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Again starting the second quarter, Capital scored the first four goals, this time coming from
Leah Leno,
Grace Osborn x2 and Vendetii. The Comets kept their foot on the game, scoring a total of 15 goals by halftime, but the pesky Hornets wouldn't go quietly as they put up seven goals of their own, trailing 15-7 at the break.
In the third, Capital finally put enough separation between the two sides to coast home to the eventual 25-11 win as the clock began to run at the 7:53 mark of the third quarter.
