COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team (8–4, 2–2 OAC) battled throughout but ultimately fell to visiting Wittenberg (8–2, 1–0 NCAC) 64–55, on Monday, Dec. 22 inside the Capital Center Performance Arena.
The Comets and Tigers were locked in a tight contest early, with the opening quarter ending even at 16–16. Capital connected on four three-pointers in the first frame, including a late triple that tied the game heading into the second quarter.
Wittenberg gained momentum in the second quarter, limiting Capital to nine points while building a nine-point halftime advantage, 34–25. The Tigers continued to control the pace in the third quarter, extending their lead to as many as 15 points before Capital entered the final period trailing 46–33.
Capital showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring Wittenberg 22–18 and cutting the deficit to as few as four points late. The Comets forced turnovers and converted at the free-throw line, but Wittenberg answered down the stretch to secure the road victory.
Samaree Perkins led Capital with 23 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double performance. Julia Nash added 13 points, while Kya Jordan contributed six points and four assists. Capital finished the contest shooting 28.8 percent from the field and knocked down nine three-pointers.
