Women’s Basketball Drops Game to No. 23 Baldwin Wallace

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team suffered their third straight loss in a battle tested game against No. 23/24 ranked Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday afternoon. The game also marked the team's second straight against a top-25 ranked team after battling No. 16/19 Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday. 

Capital drops to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in the OAC, while BW is 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. 

The Comets started on the front foot, gathering a 19-14 lead after the first quarter. The frame was capped off on a buzzer-beater 3-pointer by Kendall Spreen

In the second quarter, BW flipped the script to take a 29-27 lead into the halftime break. 

The third quarter proved to keep the game a tight battle as both teams scored freely. BW added one point to their lead, but the Comets kept hanging around. 

In the fourth, the Yellow Jackets found their way to the free throw line 14 times and converted 10 of those attempts, leading to the gap in the final score. 

THE NUMBERS
Samaree Perkins led all players with 23 points and she completed her double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds. She added two assists, a block and a steal. 

Kendall Spreen netted 17 points to go with four boards and three assists. 

Tahirah Ellis scored 15 points and added five rebounds, four assists and a steal. 

Julia Nash (5) and Kya Jordan (4) combined for the other Comet scoring in the game. Nash had four assists, while Jordan had three assists. 

UP NEXT
Capital will conclude their first half of the season on Monday with a 1 p.m. tipoff against Wittenberg. The game will be the team's last in 2025 and their last before the holiday break.
