COLUMBUS, Ohio – As announced on Tuesday morning, Capital University freshman
Hagan Lineberger was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week as a punter. His contributions to the Comets' performance in a tight 7-3 loss against Muskingum this past weekend were vitally important to keeping the team in the game and directly leading to Capital's lone score of the game.
This is Lineberger's first career collegiate award and marks the first D3football.com Team of the Week honoree from Capital since James Curtis won the award in 2023.
This past weekend vs. Muskingum, Lineberger punted three times, totaling 133 yards, good for an average of 44.3 yards per punt. Lineberger had two punts both sail 51 yards and pin the Muskies inside their own 20-yard line, which included one being downed at the one-yard line. Additionally, Lineberger was 2-for-2 passing on fake punt plays which included a crucial fourth down conversion on the drive that eventually led to the Comets' lone score of the game.
Lineberger and the Comets will be back in action to finish the 2025 season this coming Saturday with a road game at Wilmington. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.
