COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team competed against Heidelberg on Wednesday night inside The Capital Center where the squad fell by a final score of 3-0. Capital is now 2-15 overall, while Heidelberg is 13-10 on the year.
The sets went in favor of the Student Princes by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 28-26. The Comets rallied hard to force a fourth set, but a pair of kills from Heidelberg with the score tied 26-26 gave the visitors enough to close out the set and the match.
Capital was led offensively in the match by
Chloe Preocanin who dispatched a game-high nine kills, followed closely by
Ryann Bunyak who finished with eight kills.
Emily Waites and
Samaree Perkins each had five kills as well.
Carlee Thompson and
Kenadee Winters shared setting duties, ending with 12 and 11 assists, respectively.
Abby Brunner also was busy in setting up the attack with seven assists.
At the service line, Capita landed four aces – two from Preocanin and one each from
Makenna Sullivan and Thompson.
In back row defense, Capital was led by Brunner who had a game-high 20 digs. Preocanin and Thompson also both hit double digit digs, ending the match with 10 each. Sullivan was next with eight back row digs.
Up front, Capital had three solo blocks – two from Perkins and one from
Abby Reed.

Capital will take to the road this Friday, October 10th as they will play a 6 p.m. match at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh.
