COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team finally got back to winning ways on Wednesday night, defeating Wilmington by a final score of 3-1. The Comets dropped the first set 25-23, but won the next three in order of 25-22, 27-25, and 25-22 scores.
Capital is now 3-19 overall with a 1-4 OAC mark, while Wilmington is 2-19 on the year and 0-6 in the conference.
All-in-all, the Comets held the upperhand in many categories including kills (60-35), aces (11-8), assists (60-32), digs (91-79) and hitting percentage (.183-.099).
Samaree Perkins led the team with a career-high 16 kills in the game on an outstanding .667 hitting percentage. Perkins ended with the 16 kills with zero errors on 24 attacks.
Joining Perkins in the offensive leaders were
Ryann Bunyak with 16 kills,
Abby Reed with 12 kills and
Olivia Milton with six kills.
Carlee Thompson set up 49 assists, supported by five assists from
Abby Brunner.
Makenna Sullivan landed five service aces followed by two each from Brunner,
Chloe Preocanin and one a piece from
Morgan Metzger and
Shy Black.
Brunner also led the back row of defense with 30 digs, supported by 11 each from Thompson and Sullivan, and 10 from
Kenadee Winters.
At the net, Capital was led in blocking by Milton who had three total blocks, and two each from Perkins and Reed.

Capital will be back in action on Saturday, October 25th on the road at No. 22 ranked Otterbein in the annual Battle for the Oar. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Westerville.
