Aiden Lao Named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing

COLUMBUS, Ohio - On Tuesday, Capital University Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing, Nick Astalos announced the addition of Aiden Lao as the department's new Assistant Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing.  The position will serve in various areas of the athletic department including covering the various home sporting events, statistics, athletic website and social media management, and internal and external communications.

"We are very excited to add Aiden to our athletic department," Astalos mentioned. "There was a deep applicant pool that Aiden quickly rose to the top of consideration. His personality, work ethic, leadership, and experience in athletic communications were the key areas that stood out to us in our review of candidates. It was clear to us that his experience at a fellow small school and his knowledge of central Ohio college athletics would add value to our department immediately. We are pleased to welcome him to the CapFam!"

"I can't thank Nick Astalos and Dr. Darrell Bailey enough for this opportunity," said Lao.  "Working in college athletics has always been a dream of mine.  I have been blessed with so many great mentors and teachers during my time as a student and I am very excited to begin my own journey.  I'm very excited to join the Capital Family.  Go Comets!"

Lao, a native of Dublin, Ohio, returns to the Columbus area after completing his college education at the University of Findlay.  While working towards the completion of his graduate degree, he was a graduate assistant in the Findlay athletic department.  In this position Lao was responsible for the taking and reporting of statistics of the various sporting events, the creation and posting of content for social media, and the set up and tear down of all home sporting events.  He is currently on track to complete his MBA in the Spring of 2026.

As an undergraduate student, Lao completed his degree in Sports Business Strategies and Marketing in May of 2024.  During this time he worked as a Marketing Specialist at FriendsOffice in Findlay, along with spending a summer back in Columbus as an Operations Intern for Dublin Youth Athletics.
