WESTERVILLE, Ohio – On Monday afternoon, Capital University saw two student-athletes selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference's Players of the Week in their respective categories. Junior running back
Kassim Johnson was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week in football, while senior goalkeeper
Ethan Ogden earned the Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer.
This is Johnson's first career weekly honor, while Ogden's is the second of his career. The two selections this week make it eight weekly honors for the athletics department in the 2025-26 calendar year.
Johnson earned his accolade after helping the Comets to a memorable outing offensively in a 52-27 win at Manchester that saw Capital football score the most points in a game since 2014, record the most yards of offense in a game since 2018 and rush for the most yards in a game since 2015. Johnson himself accounted for 222 yards of offense thanks to 165 yards rushing and 57 yards receiving. His 165 yards on the ground came on just 13 carries, good for an average of 12.7 yards per run. In addition, Johnson accounted for three total touchdowns – two rushing and one receiving.
Ogden picked up his award after recording his first clean sheet of the season in a 4-0 shutout win at Heidelberg on Wednesday night. In that game, Ogden recorded four saves to help Capital hold the Student Princes scoreless across 90 minutes of action. The clean sheet was the second of the season for the Comets.
Both Johnson and Ogden will be back in action this week with their teams. Ogden will play midweek at home vs. Marietta before Johnson's next contest away to Ohio Northern on Saturday.
