PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Capital University volleyball team traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to battle with Carnegie Mellon, a team receiving votes in the national polls for much of the season. In the match, the hosts quickly established a foothold and used the momentum to win 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-20).
Capital is now 2-16 overall this season, while Carnegie Mellon is 16-5 overall.
The Comets were led offensively by
Ryann Bunyak and
Chloe Preocanin who each landed six kills.
Samaree Perkins – playing in her hometown of Pittsburgh – and
Olivia Milton each added four kills as well.
Carlee Thompson guided the offense with 15 assists, followed by
Abby Brunner with four assists.
At the service line, Capital landed two aces, one each from Brunner and
Shy Black.
In the back row, Brunner led the team with 18 digs, followed by Thompson with eight digs.
Morgan Metzger and Preocanin added five each as well.
Up front, Capital had one solo block and two assisted blocks. Perkins accounted for the solo block and was in on one other. Preocanin,
Abby Reed, and Milton were the other block assists.
