COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team (0-1-2) played host to Texas Lutheran (2-0-1) on Friday night in a game originally scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. but finally got underway at 8:00 p.m. after a two-hour weather delay. In the end, it would be a one-goal game, with TLU's Gavin Edwards heading the game's only goal in the 78th minute.
It was a very defensive game with both teams being kept to single-digit shot numbers. Texas Lutheran took nine shots, four on target, while the Comets managed six, one on target. Cap's top two chances came from
Jacob Deever and
Colton Daugherty. First, Deever's clanged off the crossbar, then Daugherty tested the keeper from deep and prompted TLU's only save of the match.
Connor Sexton (0-1-1) made his first start of the season, going the full 90 minutes and making three saves.
