BLUFFTON, Ohio – A second half goal from senior
Devon Hess earned Capital University men's soccer a draw in their season opening game on the road at Bluffton University on Friday evening.
The Comets, now 0-0-1 on the year, played their first game under new head coach Corey Kirk this evening. Through the 90 minutes, Capital controlled much of the possession but could not muster any additional goals on their 13 shots in the game.
Capital found themselves behind in the 23rd minute on a goal from Bluffton's Jackson Clark, forcing themselves to climb out of a hole.
It wouldn't be until the 85th minute when Hess would corral a loose ball in the box, spin his defender and rocket a shot into the upper right corner of the net to tie things up.
About two minutes after the equalizer, Hess thought he had his second as his touch ended with the ball in the back of the net off a cross from
Jackson Terry, but the referee called the goal off due to a handball in the build up.
The Comets will now look to re-group for a busy stretch that will see them play four games in six days beginning on Wednesday, September 4th with a 7 p.m. game at Bernlohr Stadium here in Columbus.
