GREENWOOD, Ind. – Earlier this month, Capital University Athletics Communications Digital Media intern,
Jay Schmoldt was announced as a runner-up in a national Creative and Digital Design Contest put on by the College Sports Communicators governing body. Schmoldt's award was announced as part of the 2024 Convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The contest recognizes creatives from all over the country from both University and College divisions in various categories ranging from graphic design to video production to portfolio of the year and more.
Schmoldt – a native of Lakewood, Ohio and a soon-to-be sophomore on the Capital men's lacrosse team – submitted various works to the Short Videos/Reels category of the contest. His work featuring Men's Basketball season highlights was selected as the Division III Runner-Up as well as ninth place overall in the College Division. Full results of the contest can be found by

Schmoldt works with Capital Athletics in video production providing sideline recorded footage of various events and athletic contests on campus. Edited videos then are shared on social media though the department's and Schmoldt's Instagram channels. Schmoldt also has a hand in assisting the athletic department with any large scale video projects centered around highlighting the university's facilities and marketing efforts among other things.
