Women’s Lacrosse Clinches Top Seed, OAC Regular Season Championship with Win Over Muskingum

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (12-4, 6-1 OAC) clinched the top seed in the OAC Tournament as well as a share of the OAC Regular Season Championship on Wednesday night with a 20-4 win over Muskingum (7-9, 0-7 OAC). It was a fun one for the Comets that saw 10 different members of the Purple and White put one in the net, including three career first-timers in Rylee Jarvis, Lily Bower, and Grace Wolfe.

CU splits the regular season title with Mount Union after both teams finish the conference season with identical 6-1 records, however, the top seed goes to Cap with the head-to-head win over the Purple Raiders earlier this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital poured it on in the early going, securing a running clock before the end of the first quarter and taking a 10-0 lead into the first break. Grace Osborn totaled four goals in the first 15 minutes, joined by Andi Henry with three, and Leah Leno, Heather Stoner, and Brenna Todd with one apiece.

Vendetti joined the party to kick off the second quarter, completing an 11-0 run before Muskingum brought a temporary stop to the festivities – and the running clock – with back-to-back goals. It wouldn't be long until the Comets got things going again, scoring four more to restart the running clock and finish off the half up 15-2. Osborn added two more along with one from Leah Leno and one from Lily Bower, the first of her career.

CU started trying to get everyone involved in the second half as multiple defenders made their way into the attacking zone and even had a few attempts at the cage. Most notably was Rylee Jarvis who started of the third quarter scoring with her first career goal in the last regular season game of her senior season. Riley Johnson followed suit with her first of the season as well and the third of her career. Osborn and Leno added the other two to make it a 20-2 game going into the last break.

Grace Wolfe would get on the board with her first career goal to start the fourth quarter, being the only member of the Purple and White to put one in in the final 15 minutes. Two scores from the other side finally brought the game to its final scoreline of 20-4.
