ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team (3-6, 1-3 OAC) traveled to face Mount Union (2-10, 1-2 OAC) on Saturday afternoon, with the Comets ultimately falling in close one to the Purple Raiders, 5-4.
DOUBLES (CAP 0-3 MTU)
Things started slow for CU in the double matches with the Purple and White winding up on the losing end in all three. Both the pairs of
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock as well as
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins lost by a score of 5-8.
Annika Hansen and
Rachel Smith suffered a 4-8 loss.
SINGLES (CAP 4-2 MTU)
Capital would nearly complete a comeback in the singles matches, getting four out of the five wins necessary to take the match. Flock and Wright-Lovell both found themselves on the winning sides of 6-4, 6-2 results. Smith secured a 6-3, 6-2 win. And finally Hanses went on to win 4-6, 7-0 (4-0 tiebreak), 7-6 (7-0 tiebreak). Fletcher fell 4-6, 3-6 while Edwards ended with a 6-7 (0-7 tiebreak), 4-6 loss as well.
