Women’s Lax Streaks Past John Carroll

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (9-4, 3-1 OAC) played host to John Carroll (6-6, 2-3 OAC) on Saturday afternoon, utilizing a streak of 10 straight goals near the end of the first half to take control of the game, ending in a 20-14 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets found themselves facing a deficit early on, falling behind 6-1 by the four-minute mark in the first quarter with only Ava Vendetti able to find the back of the net. That would soon change as Andi Henry ended the quarter with a score to cut the JCU lead to four, 6-2.

Next came something completely unexpected as CU went on a streak of nine straight to start the second quarter – a 10-0 overall run – and take a commanding 11-6 lead. This was just part of a second period in which the Purple and White would outscore the Blue Streaks 11-1. Henry was at the head of the attack, scoring five of the 11. Grace Osborn got on the board with four goals, accompanied by Holly Stoner with two to make it a 13-7 halftime scoreline.

John Carroll kept it close in the third and fourth quarters as both teams would total seven scores in the second half. Capital put up two in the third quarter by way of Vendetti and Henry, followed by five in the fourth quarter courtesy of two from Osborn and one each from Henry, Heather Stoner, and Brenna Todd to lead the Comets to a favorable 20-14 final score.
