SPARKS, Md. – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (4-2, 0-0 OAC) traveled to the USA Lacrosse Headquarters on Wednesday to play a neutral site spring break game with St. Mary's (4-2, 0-0 UEC). In the end, the Comets offense had some struggles against a team that has six Top-25 teams on their schedule this season, ultimately being outmatched 20-11.
The difference between the two teams was made in the first and fourth quarters where CU was outscored 12-2 in total. The second and third quarters were a lot closer with Cap putting in nine goals and St. Mary's scoring eight.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn and
Andi Henry each had three goals to lead the team. Osborn added an assist to total four points, securing seven draw controls with two ground balls and one caused turnover. Henry had two draw controls and two ground balls.
Ava Vendetti and
Brenna Todd both scored twice. Vendetti accounted for two assists to finish with four points along with a career-high three caused turnovers as well as five draw controls and two ground balls. Todd took two draw controls with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Leah Leno scored one goal, grabbing one ground ball.
Heather Stoner had one assist.
Riley Johnson grabbed one ground ball.
Emily Serafinchon (4-2) made a career-high 17 saves in the cage, also picking up one ground ball.
