COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (8-3, 2-0 OAC) took on Ohio Northern (6-5, 0-2 OAC) on Friday afternoon, coming away with their ninth-straight win over the Polar Bears, 23-10. It was a day in which everyone got in on the action for the Comets with seven different goal-scorers and a cleared bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital came out on fire in the first quarter with 11 goals made up of two runs of five straight scores as well as one at the end of the period.
Andi Henry alternated with
Brenna Todd and
Grace Osborn in the first run of five, adding another in the second run of five as well as scoring the last goal of the quarter for the Comets. Osborn had three scores in that second run of five, with the final goal going to
Heather Stoner. After the first 15 minutes, CU was already well ahead at 11-4.
The Purple and White would put up eight more scores in the second quarter, going on a run of 8-1 on their way to outscoring ONU 8-2. Osborn added three to her total while Henry and Stoner each scored an additional two, with
Ava Vendetti netting one to make it a 19-6 game at the half.
The second half was a lot closer scoring-wise as the Comets started to slow down the offense and try to drain the rest of the running clock. As a result the third quarter went Capital's way 2-1 and the fourth was 3-2 for Ohio Northern. Osborn and Vendetti scored the pair in the third, with
Leah Leno and
Holly Stoner scoring the pair in the fourth, for a final scoreline of 23-10 for Cap.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn put in eight goals with three assists, totaling 11 points on her way to passing 400 career points. She now sits at 406. Osborn also had a heck of a game in the other categories as well with a career-high-tying 13 draw controls along with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Andi Henry scored a career-high seven goals, adding three assists for a total of 10 points. She also collected four draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
Heather Stoner had her first career hat trick with three goals resulting in three points, also scooping up two ground balls.
Ava Vendetti netted two goals along with one assist to total three points. Additionally, getting two draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Leah Leno,
Holly Stoner, and
Brenna Todd scored one goal each. Leno made two assists to finish with three points, also grabbing a ground ball. Todd tallied two points after adding an assist, causing two turnovers with one ground ball and one draw control as well.
Riley Johnson (1 CT, 2 GB),
Lily Bower (1 CT, 1 GB),
Rylee Jarvis (2 GB), and
Grace Wolfe (1 GB) made up the remainder of the defensive stats. They were joined in the defensive zone by
Sydney Scott,
Alexa Krzynowek, and
Amaal Attia as the team kept opposition scoring to a season-low. It was Attia's first career appearance.
Emily Serafinchon (8-3) made three saves on her way to surpassing 200 in her career. She also picked up three ground balls.

The Comets will get a week off before hitting the field again on Saturday, April 6th at Baldwin Wallace. First draw from Berea is scheduled for 4 p.m.
