Osborn Passes 300 Career Goals as Women’s Lax Downs Mount Union in OAC Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (6-3, 0-0 OAC) opened OAC play on Saturday facing a very familiar foe in the form of their 2023 OAC Championship opponent Mount Union. In the end, the Comets came away with a 16-11 win, the program's largest-ever margin of victory against the Purple Raiders.

Grace Osborn was once again CU's leading scorer with eight goals, becoming the first player in Ohio Athletic Conference history to score over 300 career goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
There was no separation to be found between the two teams in the early going as both sides scored three goals in the first quarter. Capital's came via Brenna Todd, Ava Vendetti, and Grace Osborn. The Comets would then hold Mount Union to three goals again in the second quarter while scoring five of their own to take an 8-6 advantage into the half. Osborn accounted for three of the second quarter scores, leaving the other two to Vendetti.

The difference-maker for Cap was a 7-2 third quarter that started with a string of five straight from Osborn (3), Vendetti, and Andi Henry. Osborn and Henry would then go back-to-back again before the quarter's end, taking the total 15-8. The fourth quarter was the only in which CU was outscored, 3-1 with the lone goal courtesy of Vendetti, but the damage had already been done as the Purple and White would leave Alliance with a 16-11 win.
