GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team (5-3, 0-0 OAC) traveled to play Denison (3-4, 0-0 NCAC) on Wednesday afternoon, ultimately ending up on the wrong side of a 22-9 final.
Leah Leno put in Capital's lone goal in the opening period that ended 8-1 in favor of the hosts.
Grace Osborn would go on to net all five of the CU's scores in the second quarter, with seven coming on the other side and leaving the game at 15-6 at the half. The Comets were outscored 7-3 in the second half, 4-1 in the third quarter and 3-2 in the fourth quarter to bring the final scoreline to 22-9.
Andi Henry had the lone goal in the third quarter, adding another in the fourth along with
Heather Stoner.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn scored a team-high five goals and added one assist for six total points. She also recovered six draw controls and two ground balls.
Andi Henry had two goals with three assists to total five points, adding four draw controls, two caused turnovers, and one ground ball.
Leah Leno and
Heather Stoner scored one goal each.
Brenna Todd tallied a career-high four draw controls while also grabbing two ground balls.
Ava Vendetti (2) and
Lily Bower collected the team's three remaining draw controls. Vendetti also scooped up one ground ball.
Holly Stoner (2 CT, 2 GB),
Rylee Jarvis (1 CT, 1 GB), and
Grace Wolfe (1 GB) made up the rest of the defensive stats.
Emily Serafinchon (5-3) made nine saves on the afternoon, picking up one ground ball.
