DELAWARE, Ohio – The No. 18-ranked Capital University women's lacrosse team (3-1, 0-0 OAC) suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a road contest at Ohio Wesleyan (2-0, 0-0 NCAC), 17-8.
The Comets started off slow, falling behind 3-2 in the first quarter with goals coming from
Andi Henry and
Grace Osborn. CU was then outscored 6-1 in the second quarter after losing their second-leading scorer Henry to two yellow cards. Osborn scored the only goal of the quarter for Cap, making it a 9-3 game at the half. Capital kept up with OWU in the final two quarters, playing a 3-4 third and a 2-4 fourth, but the damage had already been done, 17-8 at the finish.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn led the offense with four goals and two assists for six points. She picked up six ground balls and six draw controls with one caused turnover.
Ava Vendetti netted a hat-trick with three goals and one assist, totaling four points. She collected five draw controls, caused one turnover and grabbed one ground ball.
Andi Henry had one goal for one point, also controlling three draws.
Rylee Jarvis (3),
Brenna Todd (2), and
Grace Wolfe (1) were responsible for the six remaining ground balls.
Emily Serafinchon (3-1) made 11 saves during her afternoon in the cage.
