Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Henry’s OT Goal Lifts No. 19 Women’s Lax to Big Win at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – Andi Henry scored four goals, including the game-winner midway through the first overtime period to help lift the No. 19 ranked women's lacrosse to a 13-12 win at Hope College.

The Comets now improve to 3-0 on the season, while Hope sits 0-1 after today's season-opening contest. The Flying Dutch have perennially been one of the top teams in the midwest region.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets found themselves in unfamiliar territory as they trailed 3-1 by the end of the first quarter. The only Comets goal came courtesy of Brenna Todd who converted a woman-up goal off an assist from Grace Osborn

To start the second quarter, the Comets got their offense going and quickly went ahead 4-3 thanks to two goals from Osborn and one from Andi Henry. As the second quarter continued both sides traded goals and the half ended with Capital ahead 7-5. Additional Cap goals came from Henry, Osborn and Todd.

In the third quarter, Hope made a game of it as they kept within one through the end of the quarter, 12-11. Goals in the third for Capital came from Osborn (3), Todd, and Henry.

In the fourth quarter, both offenses went pretty quiet as the Flying Dutch leveled the game with just one goal and regulation ended with the score tied at 12-all.

In the overtime period, the Flying Dutch won the opening draw and saw their initial shot attempt saved by Emily Serafinchon. Now with the ball on attack, the Comets drew up a play that saw Ava Vendetti send a pass across goal to Andi Henry who dispatched a quickfire shot to give the Comets the 13-12 win.

THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn was yet again the leading scorer despite facing double and triple defenses at times. She finished with six goals and two assists to go with nine draw controls.

Andy Henry ended with four goals to go with five draws, four ground balls and one caused turnover.

Brenna Todd accounted for the other three goals – a career-high in that department. She also added three ground balls and a draw control.

Emily Serafinchon recorded a season-best eight saves in the goal.

UP NEXT
The Comets will gear up for another road game as they head across town to Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday, February 28th for a 4 p.m. game.
