GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Capital University women's basketball team (8-1, 3-0 OAC) was in action on Sunday afternoon for some holiday hoops at the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tournament hosted by DePauw. The Comets would unfortunately fall to Milwaukee School of Engineering (5-5, 1-1 NACC) in overtime, resulting in the first blemish on CU's record for the season, 60-55.
Capital's day was defined by shooting struggles in all areas, going 28.6% from the field, 34.6% from three-point range, and 58.8% from the free throw line. This resulted in a decreased scoring output with several of CU's usual high-scorers struggling to put up more than a few points. However, all hope was not lost as
Bri O'Connor (23 PTS) and
Laney Murphy (19 PTS) were able to lead a fourth quarter comeback to force overtime with a 51-51 score at the end of regulation. Unfortunately, the Purple and White would be outscored 9-4 in the extra period, ending the game at 60-55 for MSOE.
