ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team traveled to Mount Union on Saturday afternoon playing for a spot in the OAC Tournament, but unfortunately, a tough break in the first set, put the Comets behind in an eventual 3-0 loss at the hands of the Purple Raiders. The loss ended the season for the Comets with an overall record of 9-17 and 1-8 in the conference. Mount will now go to the OAC postseason with a record of 18-9 and 6-3 in the conference.
As a team, Capital struggled offensively, landing just 30 kills and committing 26 attacking errors in the match for a .031 hitting percentage. On the flip side, Mount attacked at a .224 clip, and blocked extremely well, making life difficult for the Comets.
Sophia Sobota ended the match with 11 kills and 12 digs for Cap to lead the way.
Olivia Spillers and
Simone Daniel each had five kills, while
Larissa Smith landed four kills. Spillers added 12 digs as well.
Emily Yanczura set up the offense with 14 assists, followed by six from
Bryn Whitmer.
Abby Brunner ended with 18 digs, four assists, three aces and two kills as well.

Olivia Spillers,
Delaney Conger and
Sophia Sobota.
