Women’s Basketball Suffocates Kenyon in 68-34 Win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team played suffocating defense and some solid offense in a 68-34 win over visiting Kenyon College on Saturday evening. 

The Comets now improve to 2-0 to start the season, while Kenyon falls to 0-3. 

All-in-all, Capital held statistical advantages all over the map in this game, out-rebounding the Owls 54-31, out-assisting them 15-4, out-blocking them 3-0, and out-stealing them 15-7, while holding advantages in points and field goal percentage as well. 

Bri O'Connor led the Comets with a strong 23 minutes of action as she scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while also adding in four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. 

Samaree Perkins recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points to go with 11 rebounds and four steals. 

Kendall Spreen scored 11 points off the bench, and she paired that with three rebounds, an assist and a steal. 

Maddi Weiland netted six points and pulled down 10 rebounds and added two assists. 

Kya Jordan and Laney Murphy combined for seven points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. 

Skylar Blatnik scored four points off the bench and was joined in the bench scoring by Jenna Horsley, Rani Thigpen, Kenzie Weiland and Tahirah Ellis

Others to see action in the game were Aly Ray, Izzy Rodriguez, Olivia Rouser, Nyla Washington and Aleyna Rick
