COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University men's soccer team put on a dominant performance at home shutting out the Student Princes of Heidelberg 4-0 and improving their win streak against Heidelberg to nine consecutive games. The Comets have now won two in a row at home and look to extend their win streak this Saturday against John Carroll.
Brendon Dorsett scored a career-high two goals, both of them headers.
Nico Voight found the goal early on and some fancy footwork along with an incredible shot allowed
Jacob Deever to send one into the top right corner of the net a few minutes later.
This win improves Capital to 3-5-3 on the year and to 2-0 in conference play.
Following the loss, Heidelberg is now 0-9-1 and 0-2 in OAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital controlled the possession for a majority of the first half and did a good job of sharing the ball and defending well when they lost it. After some close calls early on in the match,
Nico Voight was able to punch one in in the 19th minute with an assist from
Brennan Hesse to put the Comets up 1-0.
Towards the end of the half
Jacob Deever found himself facing the net with two defenders in front of him. A quick jab to the left and then back to the right shook the defenders off just enough for him to launch a shot straight into the top right corner of the net to put Capital up 2-0 in the 37th minute.
Brendon Dorsett finished the game strongly, scoring two goals in the second half, one in the 79th minute and the other in the 89th minute. The first was off of an assist from
Christian Monzalvo who sent the ball towards the face of the goal and Brendon got a piece of it with the back of his head, redirecting the ball into the left side of the net. His second goal came when he made a nice move around the goalie and with nobody between him and the wide open goal, he took a dive and sent the ball over the line with the crown of his head to put the exclamation mark on an already impressive win.
THE NUMBERS
Brendon Dorsett led the Comets with two goals,

Brennan Hesse showed off their field vision, each dishing out an assist.
