WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team (5-7-4, 4-2-1 OAC) took the short trip north to the campus of their bitter rivals Otterbein (8-6-2, 4-3-0 OAC) on Saturday for what would end up being a one-goal game going the way of the Cardinals, 1-0. The deciding score happened in the 54th minute when Otterbein's Drew Boettcher assisted Carter Ely.
CU struggled to get the offense going, getting forward for only 10 chances compared to Otterbein's 18. Of those 10 chances, only three were on target for the Comets, as compared to the Cardinals' 10.
Jacob Deever and
Brennan Hesse led the team in shot attempts with three and two respectively. Only one of Deever's found its mark.
The other two shots on goal came from
Nico Voight and
Brendon Dorsett, their only shots of the game.
Terry Jackson,
Devon Hess, and
Landon Montgomery had their attempts fall offline.
Noah Thomas (4-2-1) set a new career-high of eight saves during his 90 minutes in the net.
