ADA, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team let a halftime lead slip away as they fell 88-81 on the road at Ohio Northern University.
The result made both Capital and ONU 9-6 overall on the season, however, ONU is ahead in the OAC with a 4-4 record compared to Capital's 3-5 mark.
The first half was a tightly contested game for much of the way, but a 3-pointer from
McKane Finkenbine and
Daryl Cooper sandwiched a layup from
Alex Eyink to put Cap ahead by eight at the 14:49 minute mark. Eventually, a layup from
Justin Nixon put the Comets ahead 20-11 at the 10:41 mark of the first half. That lead was CU's largest advantage of the game.
Out of the break, Ohio Northern chipped away the 5-point deficit they faced at the intermission quickly and eventually took a lead at the 12:52 mark of the second half. That lead would hold for the Polar Bears the rest of the way as ONU would lead by as many as 13 throughout the second period of play.
