WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team fell just short in the Battle for the Oar at Otterbein this afternoon, falling by a score of 2-1.
The Cardinals scored in the 4th and 54th minutes of the game to cancel out a
Zade Awad strike in the 25th minute of play.
Awad collected a pass from
Tony Epstein on the outside of the field and then dribbled past a couple of defenders before slotting a right-footed shot past the Cardinal goalie from 20 yards out. Awad has now scored two goals on the year. Additionally, Awad has scored both times he has played against Otterbein as he netted the Comets' only goal in a 1-1 tie a year ago.
The Comets slung 13 shots at goal, nine of which found the target. Awad put all three of his attempts on frame, as did
Jack Kossoudji.
Derrick Harris was also 2-for-2 in shots on goal, while
Jacob Deever had the other on target shot.
Ethan Ogden made four saves in the Comet (6-3, 0-1 OAC) net, while Casey Thompson was responsible for eight stops in the Otterbein goal.
