COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team won a tightly contested affair with Mount Union in shutout fashion on Friday, winning 9-0 in the end.
Despite Mount only having five players, the contested matches were close throughout, but the Comets hung on for the win and improved their record to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.
DOUBLES
At first doubles,
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock were tested until the end, but defeated Abby Franks and Amelia Francisco 8-5.
At second doubles,
Rachel Smith and
Kylee Fliter edged out Emily Peel and Chloe Bancroft 8-6.
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins took the win by default at third doubles.
SINGLES
Anna Fletcher won a battle at first singles over Abby Franks, winning 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
Nicole Flock won her second singles match with Amelia Francisco 6-4, 6-3.
Rachel Smith took care of business at third singles, defeating Emily Peel 6-4, 6-1.
Amy Wright-Lovell defeated Chloe Bancroft at the fourth spot by scores of 6-3, 6-0.
Jenny Rollins then won over Marissa Scobee 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles.
Kylee Fliter won sixth singles by default.
