COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team welcomed Shawnee State to town on Wednesday for an afternoon non-conference match. Cap was able to take a few points but in the end it was Shawnee State going home with the win.
Capital sits at 6-6 on the season and 1-2 in the OAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital drew first blood, winning first doubles with the pair of
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock, 8-6. The second two doubles matches ended up going the other way as
Rachel Smith and
Kylee Fliter were defeated 8-4, and
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Jenny Rollins lost 8-1.
The Comets were able to come up with two wins in the singles matches, but this still left them at a 6-3 disadvantage in the overall scoring.
Nicole Flock took her two sets in second singles 7-5, 6-2. She was joined by
Rachel Smith with a similar winning scoreline, in fourth singles 7-5, 6-3. The matches that didn't go Capital's way went as follows:
Anna Fletcher: 3-6, 6-2, 3-6,
Amy Wright-Lovell: 3-6, 1-6,
Kylee Fliter: 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, and
Jenny Rollins: 3-6, 3-6.
