COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team celebrated senior day at Wolfe Park today prior to an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Baldwin Wallace University.
Honored before the match were seniors
Aaron Askew and
Jack Schwarz.
With the result, Capital wraps up their regular season with an overall record of 7-9 and an OAC mark of 1-5. Capital will now await results around the league to be reported to learn their first round OAC Tournament arrangements.
DOUBLES
Capital dropped all three match-ups at doubles, with
Spencer Surles and
Brady Wink taking the most games (4) at the second spot.
Thomas Secrist and
Colin Welch fell 8-0 at #1, Surles and Wink lost 8-4 and
Aaron Askew and
Jesse Stevens were overcome 8-1.
SINGLES
Capital's lone point on the day came from
Colin Welch who was winning 4-1 over BW's Trey Kernan in the first set before Kernan was forced to retire through injury.
In order, the other singles matches went in favor of BW:
Thomas Secrist lost 6-3, 6-0 at #1,
Spencer Surles fell 6-1, 6-3 at #2,
Jesse Stevens lost 6-4, 6-3 at #4,
Brady Wink fell 6-3, 6-3 at #5 and
Aaron Askew was upended 6-1, 6-0 at #6.
