MAYFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team took part in the first round of the OAC conference tournament on Tuesday, traveling to face third-seeded John Carroll. The sixth-seeded Comets were defeated 5-0.
Capital got off to a rough start in doubles, as the pairs of
Spencer Surles and
Brady Wink,
Aaron Askew and
Jesse Stevens, and
Alex Rowley and
Thomas Secrist all lost by the same score of 8-2.
The Comets' final two complete matches went in favor of John Carroll, giving the Blue Streak the five points necessary to win the match, and ending the day's action.
Thomas Secrist (#1 Singles) and
Spencer Surles (#2 Singles) represented Capital in those matches. Secrist was defeated 6-2, 6-0 and Surles lost 6-1, 6-0.
Jesse Stevens played an unfinished third singles, dropping the first set 6-0.
Brady Wink,
Jackson Havel, and
Aaron Askew were slated to play fourth, fifth, and sixth singles.
Capital finishes the season with a 7-10 record, 1-5 in conference play.
