NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team took on the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University on Wednesday night for a midweek OAC matchup. In the end it was all Comets, 22-1.
Capital moves to 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in the OAC.
Muskingum drops to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital – specifically
Grace Osborn – was on fire early, going up 4-0 with Osborn recording a hat trick before the 10-minute mark of the first quarter. The run was slowed by Muskingum's lone goal of the game at 9:03 left in the first period. The Comets would add six more before the end of the first en route to 18 unanswered goals before the game's end. Breaking down by quarter, Cap netted five in the second, four in the third, and three in the fourth to close out a 22-1 victory.
THE NUMBERS
Grace Osborn put eight in the net off of a perfect 8-for-8 on target. She added four assists for a total of 12 points, as well as picking up six ground balls, causing six turnovers, and winning a career-high 13 draw controls.
Julia Foresi notched a career-high eight assists, good enough for third all-time on the single-game leaderboard. She also scored two goals for a total of 10 points, and won seven draw controls while picking up four ground balls and causing three turnovers.
Luci Kanowsky scored four goals from a perfect 10-of-10 on target. Also adding four assists for eight total points with one ground ball.
Dylan Smith netted a season-high three goals, going 5-for-5 on shots on goal, with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Andi Henry had two goals on a perfect 5-of-5 shots on goal, with one assist for three points. She also got four ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control.
Ava Vendetti scored her second and third career goals – a new career single-game high in that category – along with one ground ball and one caused turnover.
Abbey Midnight was responsible for Capital's final goal as well as three ground balls.
Brenna Todd recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers, the first of each in her Capital career.
IN THE CAGE
Meg Garcia and
Emily Serafinchon split time in the cage again. Garcia got the start and made three saves in the first half, picking up the winning decision (3-2 on the season). Serafinchon finished things off, making one save.
