Men’s Basketball Puts Up Season-High 94 Points, Breezing By BW

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital men's basketball team got back into the win column on Saturday, breezing by Baldwin Wallace with a season-high 93 points. The Comets showcased great ball movement and suburb shooting – going 36-of-70 (51.4%) from the field and a season-high 15-for-27 (55.6%) from deep – leading to the 94-63 victory. 

Cap moves to 8-2 on the season and 2-1 in the OAC. 

BW falls to 2-5 and 1-2 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital took an early 16-8 advantage in the first few minutes but that would be canceled out by Baldwin Wallace before the halfway mark of the first half. It was the second part of the period where CU started to separate themselves from the competition. The Comets would go on to outscore the Yellow Jackets 28-14 in the final 10 minutes of the half, hitting 6-of-7 threes. Cap held a 44-29 lead in hand as the teams headed to the locker rooms. McKane Finkenbine was the team's leading scorer at the half with nine points, followed closely by Baden Forup with eight. 

The Comets came out on a 26-8 run to start the second half as their lead swelled to its highest point of 33 points, 70-37. Finkenbine was at the forefront once again adding 10 points to his total, including a pair of back-to-back deep threes. As a result, coach Damon Goodwin was able to empty the bench in the final 10 minutes en route to the 94-63 win. 

THE NUMBERS
McKane Finkenbine finished with a career-high 19 points – including five three-pointers – adding seven rebounds, six assists, and one block.

Baden Forup and Ryan Suever each scored 14 points. Forup pulled down 10 rebounds to complete his double-double, adding a block as well. Suever secured an additional six boards. 

Carter Combs and Alex Eyink were next, both with nine points. Combs came away with six assists and four rebounds while Eyink had three assists and two rebounds. 

Dom Moegerle scored seven points with two rebounds and one steal. 

Justin Nixon notched five points and five boards, adding three assists and one block. 

Jackson Shelby and Andrew Schrage both scored their first career points. Shelby with a three-pointer, and Schrage with two.

The Comets will have a week off, playing next on Saturday, December 16 in Alliance against No. 11 Mount Union. Tipoff is on tap for 1 p.m.
