Men’s Soccer Outlasted by ONU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team (6-4-1, 0-2-1) took on Ohio Northern 6-4-2, 2-0-1) at Bernlohr Stadium on Saturday, falling 3-2 in a very close game.

Capital got on the board early, scoring in just the 6th minute. Zade Awad was the one to put in – his third of the week – coming off of an assist from Jack Francisco. ONU almost evened it back up about 37th minute, but the goal was disallowed citing offsides.

It wouldn't be until the second half when Ohio Northern equalized off of an own goal, when an errant ONU shot caromed off the crossbar, away from goal and into the back of keeper Ethan Ogden, which redirected it into the back of the net. This would be the first of two straight for the Polar Bears, the second coming less than 10 minutes later off of a free kick.

The Comets would be quick to equalize, scoring in the 71st minute to draw even at 2-2. This time it was Awad returning the favor to Francisco, setting Jack up for an easy chip into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately for the Comets, ONU was not done and would score the game-winner with a little over nine minutes left to take the match.

THE NUMBERS
Awad's goal was his fifth of the season and his assist was his second. He sits tied for the team scoring lead with Jack Kossoudji.

Francisco's score was his third of the year, his assist being his first. He is tied for second in scoring with Derrick Harris, Devon Hess, and Jarrett Puckett.

Ethan Ogden (6-3-1) played the full 90 in goal. He made three saves.
